Phoenix had a need.
The Metro Phoenix Area had an unfulfilled need for affordable condominiums in the mid-90s. This led to Robert Lyles & Patricia Watts forming Starpointe Communities to provide housing solutions through condominium conversions. The first three residences opened in 1996 to great acclaim, spurring Starpointe on to further development projects.
Expansion and expertise.
In 2003, Dan Richards joined the leadership team, lending his expertise on matters of acquisition, planning and engineering. Growing into one of the largest condominium developers in Arizona by 2010, Starpointe completed numerous mixed-use and residential projects, resulting in over 3,800 homes. Starpointe evolved into Deco Communities, which specialized in well-priced rental housing. The Cabana brand was born under Deco, with a model of acquiring under-performing assets and redeveloping them with vibrant aesthetics, quality communal space and public art.
Moving forward.
Deco completed seven Cabana communities in addition to three for-sale residences. In 2018, Greenlight Communities took the Cabana concept to the next level through newly constructed attainable rental housing. With the savviness that comes with over 25 years of experience, Greenlight has completed ten new attainable rental Cabana projects to date. With an additional three Cabana projects and four Streamliner projects under construction and nearly half a dozen in the pipeline, Greenlight is well-positioned to carry on the legacy of bringing high-quality housing to the Valley for years to come.
